Ident Influences


The reason that BBC One has created such an instantly recognisable brand image is due to its repetition of a single simple image but with small variation and elaboration with every advert. One can see that this theme has been stuck to for many years, only making it more engrained on the minds of the viewer This template of a circle being placed in centre frame with some kind of decorative trill and then the use of bold, clear text is incredibly effective at creating adverts that do not need to be closely watched for the viewer to recognise it as being BBC One. The plain, bold text is not dissimilar to that of 'WATCH', a channel which also has a very recognisable ident through a similar formula to that of BBC One's by sticking to a template and only varying through additional graphics and colour.
