Audience Survey Results

From these results, one can infer that my target audience is primarily of the age group 17-20, although mainly of a higher mental age, suggesting more adult themes are appropriate. Most people who answered my survey were from Southwark, so may be inclined towards city based film. The majority of thrillers listed were psychological, hinting at a primarily cognitive audience, and although most people that completed the survey were female, i do not think this suggests anything about my target audience.

Target audience could be said to be primarily middle class, from the age of 15-21, living in and around London. Psychological thrillers are the preferred, suggesting a cognitive audience is to be aimed at. A low level of lighting is revealed to be pleasing to said audience, creating an air of mystery. A sense of realism is required to keep the viewer entertained, and distorted or 'off' shots of actors and location are more than acceptable. In terms of 'gore', a level of discretion appears to be required, although it cannot be said that a Tension Release audience should be ruled out. Discretion with scenes of a sexual nature is also needed, not to avoid offending viewers, but more to preserve the integrity of the sense of realism the director has created. Romance is seen to be an effective 'hook' for a viewer, which brings into question a personal integrative audience.
A mixed gender audience is presumed for proposed project.

Certification

Certification for my project:

The film I intend on story-boarding, writing, directing and shooting will be dealing with adult themes such as the use of drugs, violence and may include connotations of a sexual nature. Strong language will be used in a number of different scenarios by a number of different characters. Due to these reasons, I deem the feature that I am intending to produce unsuitable for viewing of an audience under the age of 15.
